"We care about the welfare of the people in and around Lichinga. With our health care program we focus on helping kids to grow up healthy."

It all started in 2005 with a desire to bring high quality education to Lichinga; at first just a little mud hut with some eager kids. The eager kids are still here, although there are now 350 of them. The mud hut turned into a large, and beautiful school building. Parents from all over Lichinga line up to be able to send their kids to CECAVI Lichinga, a testimony to the hard work of wonderful people.

In short

‘Centro Rafael’ is a place where the community can come with their health questions. We especially focus on malnutrition amongst young children and on pregnant ladies. Our focus is to empower mothers with knowledge so that they know how to take the best care of their families.

Way of Life Education Center

The education system of Mozambique leaves a lot of things to be desired; in a region where the majority of kids only speak Chiyao the teachers teach in Portuguese. At CECAVI we have teachers able to communicate with kids from every background, and we make sure to teach them the Portuguese language.

Higher Education

Our curriculum not only goes deeper, but also higher; all the way up to Heaven. Officially a private school, at CECAVI we are able to teach our kids from a Biblical curriculum. Every one of our seven classes start with stories from the Bible, every single day, and we make sure all the kids coming to our school know who Jesus is.

Kickstart Life

At CECAVI we help our kids get the most out of life, from an early age. Because we believe great education is the best – and maybe only – way to a better tomorrow for every Mozambican. When a bright young student leaves our seventh grade they know more, study harder, and are able to reach further than kids taught at state schools.

We Need Help (To Educate Our Kids)

We pride ourselves on the standard of our education, but we won’t tell you we’re perfect or even close to reaching our vision. We want CECAVI schools to shine a light on every city of Mozambique, to reach that we need your help.

Who runs CECAVI?

The school was started by the wonderful Betania, but she moved on to other things. Today CECAVI Lichinga is run by Sonja. She’s from Mozambique, has been with CECAVI from the start and we think she’s amazing.

What does the community think of the Christian values you teach?

The majority of Lichinga is muslim, and everyone knows very well that we are a Christian school. However, that doesn’t stop them for seeking out our education because of its quality. 

Do the kids take home the gospel?

For sure! We have some amazing stories of entire families getting to know Jesus, because one of our kids brought the good news home. If you’re interested for some stories; get in touch!

Our vision

Mozambique, just like the night sky, is full of stars. Stars waiting to be discovered; to have their potential unlocked. That’s why we believe receiving high-quality education shouldn’t be based on being born into the ‘right’ family. Good education is a basic human right and that’s why we want to build CECAVI into a national school system.
Mozambique is already full of stars, CECAVI is only here to discover them.
